Dear FaCT Friends,
Please remember that we will be meeting on Saturday, March 23 in Hiram, at the Hiram Christian Church, 6868 W. Wakefield Rd., from 11 AM to 1 PM.
Some of our FaCT friends in Hiram and surrounding areas will be providing a lunch for us at 1:00 pm., right after the meeting. (You may make a free will offering for the food and for Hiram Christian Church’s generous provision of space for our meeting.)
THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE RSVP’d. YOU HAVE MADE OUR PLANNING EASIER.
IF YOU HAVE NOT RSVP’d to Ron yet, please do so as soon as you can.
TENTATIVE AGENDA:
In the Sanctuary
- Welcome and Invocation by Rev. Roger McKinney of Hiram Christian Church
- Introduction and Convener’s Report – Ron Prosek
- Actions You Can Take – Letter Writing Parties – Anne Caruso
- What the Frack is Going on In Portage County? – Gwen Fischer
- Direct Action – An Important Tools for Change – Sam Rubin
- Action Reports from Faith Communities
- Closing / Adjournment – 1 PM
LUNCH 1PM —- Education Bldg.
To help with planning for food and for the meeting, I request that you kindly RSVP as soon as you can as to whether or not you can make the meeting that day. We really hope as many as possible can be there to network with each other and to give a boost to the local fractivists in Portage County who are facing many challenges.
We also have some informational components planned for the meeting: (1) a report from Portage County fractivists on the status of the fracking challenge in their communities and (2) a presentation by Sam Rubin, experienced organizer, on Direct Action (which is not the same a civil disobedience). Come and learn about the differences and why and how Direct Action is an important tool in our campaign to stop fracking, which harms God’s Creation.
Rev. Roger McKinney, pastor of Hiram Christian Church, will welcome us and give the invocation to start our meeting at 11:00 am. Hope to see you all there.
Please RSVP to Ron Prosek as soon as you can (if you don’t have his email, please contact us here and we’ll let him know).
