In lieu of a mid-summer meeting, FaCT – Faith Communities Together for Frac Awareness will be participating in a major demonstration against the use of Class II injection wells for the disposal of toxic/radioactive frack waste.

Ohio has 178 of these wells that are now accepting vast amounts of toxic/radioactive waste from out of state as well as from shale frack wells in Ohio. This hazardous material is being injected into the ground beneath our feet. And, the industry plans to construct many more of these wells in Ohio to receive more and more of these toxic frack wastes.

Several Ohio environmental and anti-frack organizations are banding together to mount a large visible peaceful demonstration of our opposition to these injection wells. These include 350.org, Food and Water Watch, CHEJ – Citizens for Health and Environmental Justice, NEOGAP – Network for Oil & Gas Accountability and Protection, Frack Free Mahoning, along with FaCT and many local Ohio groups as well.

The day of the demonstration, July 29, will be a day of national protest against global climate change and the hydrocarbon fuels that are accelerating it. The sponsor nationally is 350.org, which will be contributing resources to our Ohio anti-frack action.

Our Ohio demonstration will be preceded by two days of planning and training. This will be followed on the third day by our demonstration. The dates are: July 27-28 for planning and training and July 29 for the peaceful (but strong) demonstration. To make our demonstration disciplined, organized, and effective, it is essential to commit to all three days. Please plan to participate. Please save these weekend dates now.

WE NEED EVERYONE to PARTICIPATE. We will be led to the site of protest by clergy who will begin our demonstration with a “preach-in.” This is “right up our alley” as FaCT is composed of people from faith communities. Let us put our faith into action! What is happening in our state is a moral outrage, and we MUST oppose it!

This IS the action that you have been waiting for! Save the dates: July 27, 28, 29. Watch your email for further details.
